Beth Phillips, LCSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

Beth is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and an M.A. in Social Work from SUNY Albany’s School of Social Welfare. Since 2005 she has been working with adults from diverse backgrounds facing a myriad of chronic and life-threatening illnesses and those who care for them in settings such as hospitals, assisted living facilities, home-based Visiting Nurse agencies, Palliative care, and Hospice.

Beth also has expertise in areas of mental health such as anxiety, depression, grief and loss, chronic pain, life transitions, and job stress. In 2017 Beth had the pleasure of designing and implementing a Mindfulness-based employee education program for medical professionals to help prevent burnout in the medical field. She uses these Mindfulness principals as well as her training as a 300-hour Yoga Instructor and Reiki Master to incorporate a humanistic and holistic approach to therapy.

Beth has training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Motivational Interviewing. However, first and foremost, she recognizes that one of the most important principals in therapy is to “start where the client is”. She has been described by colleagues and clients alike as having a compassionate, authentic, and when appropriate, humorous approach. One of Beth’s favorite quotes that best sums up how she approaches her life’s work on this earth is, “We are all angels with just one wing, but we need each other to fly”.
