Psychiatrist Nurse Practitioner

Andrea Young is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) post-master’s certified. She is also dual certified as a family health nurse practitioner with a Master of Science in Nursing practice (MSN). Andrea’s nursing career spans 29 years. It began as a licensed practical nurse working in nursing homes and later in agency nursing where she took care of vented pediatric patients with special needs and adult patients in home settings. She then became a registered nurse working in hospitals in Palm Beach, FL, primarily in the ICU and surgical services. Andrea later completed her master’s degree and become a certified family health nurse practitioner in 2013. After graduating she worked in pain management, nephrology, and addiction medicine.
Andrea has received her waiver training to prescribe medication assisted treatment for opioid addiction. She has treated patients with substance use disorder from different age groups. While providing care for patients with substance use disorder (SUD) that Andrea noticed that many of her patients also had psychiatric disorders. This led her to pursue post-masters training and is now a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). During her clinical rotations Andrea developed a special interest in adolescent patients and those with ADHD and other developmental disorders and looks forward to continuing to improve the mental and physical health of young people. Andrea is honored to be part of Vitality Psychiatry Group Practice supporting the psychiatric needs of their patients.
